As an American makeup and hair artist in Paris, France, I beautify brides from all over the world for their destination elopements and weddings.

In 2021, we had the pleasure of providing Alexa with bridal beauty services for her timeless summer elopement in Paris. Alexa and her fiancé, Matt, from Missouri, love Paris, and originally planned their elopement for 2020, they were to spend a week in Paris for their elopement followed by a week in South of France for their honeymoon. As we all know… plans changed, and once Paris reopened for tourism in 2021, Alexa reached out right away to reschedule their Elopement!

Once we re-connected, we got right to her planning her wedding day look, and Alexa used my bridal makeup and hair design guide to explain to us exactly how she wanted to look. Before she arrived, we had a video call to complete the details!

Their Paris Elopement Venue

Alexa booked a destination elopement wedding package at the Shangri-La Paris.

They chose the Shangri-La Paris because of its glamorous Parisian interiors, convenient location and beautiful elopement spaces with convenient wedding packages.

The Shangri-La Paris is the former residence of Prince Roland Bonaparte. It has 100 rooms, two restaurants and a bar, all adorned in a classic rococo style. Its location in the 16th arrondissement gives it its iconic views of the Eiffel Tower and River Seine and a short walk to the Arc de Triomphe and Pont Alexandre III—making it the perfect location for Alexa and Matt’s early morning photoshoot!

Paris Elopement Wedding Tip #1: Many Paris hotels offer elopement packages and offer discounts on weekdays. When it’s just the two of you, you can fly into Paris on a Monday, get married on Wednesday, and kick start your honeymoon on Thursday!

The Wedding Day

Alexa and Matt scheduled their wedding elopement photoshoot for the early the morning, which meant my work began at 3:00am. When we arrived to her hotel room in the Shangri-La Paris, she hadn’t slept at all felt quite tired but trusted me to work my magic and help her look fresh faced and awake!

Alexa’s Bridal Look Inspiration

Alexa has an oval face with a light olive complexion, Almond shaped hazel eyes , with full lips and defined brows, she wanted her bridal makeup to be a medium intensity with a “my lips but better” mauve.

Her hair is long, medium-thick with soft balayage highlights and shorter layers to frame the front of her face. For her bridal hairstyle, she wanted soft curls, pieces framing face loosely pulled back with the ability to easily add or remove her veil.

Alex'as Elopement wedding dress was an A-line gown with a sweetheart neckline with a satin finish and full skirt - a timeless style filled with glamour!

For the bridal hairstyle, we styled the hair half-up in curls and loosely pulled back for veil option, with soft pieces framing face. She likes her front part in a specific style, so we took extra time to work to style it in the way she envisioned.

For the bridal makeup, we focused on bringing out the color of her hazel eyes and her mauve-toned lips to harmonize her light olive complexion and highlighted brown hair. For her eyes, we designed a tear-proof, warm-toned peach eye shadow look with thick faux lashes and diffused eyeliner. We brought warmth to her complexion with layers of rose and pink blush, followed by strategic highlighting for a fresh and healthy glow for the warm day ahead, and finished the look with rose, glossy lips!

Once we were finished, we left her in the capable hands of her photographer, Paris Photographer Pierre Torset, and her videographer 2P Paris Prod and headed over to style the groom. We styled his hair and did some light makeup to cover up the dark circles under his eyes.

Bridal Look Tip: half-up bridal hairstyles make inserting and removing veils very easy, and they’re very practical for windy weather so your hairstyle looks polished in every photo!

The Couple’s Paris Portraits

Once they were ready to go, they went off into the early morning light to take their photos.

Because of their central location and early morning photoshoot time, they could take pictures at the Eiffel Tower (Trocadero), Louvre Museum, the Place de la Concorde, Alexander III Bridge, and the golden gates at Petit Palais! The lighting was perfect - overcast but still bright, and not too hot or humid… meaning her hair and makeup lasted throughout the entirety of the shoot!

After their photoshoot, they came back to the Shangri-La to rest for a couple hours. Before their Wedding ceremony, we arrived back to do touch-ups on Alexa’s makeup and hair.

Paris Wedding Photoshoot - Alexa and Matt took advantage of the early morning and were able to take crowd-free pictures at Paris’s iconic landmarks: The Eiffel Tower, Louvre Museum, Place de la Concorde, Alexander III Bridge, and finally the Petit Palais!

Their Elopement Ceremony

Their ceremony was very emotional and filled with tears; their wedding day was finally happening after waiting for an additional year because of COVID-19!

Afterwards, they enjoyed dinner in Paris and got ready to head off to their honeymoon in Antibes, where they enjoyed the coastal towns and waters of the French Riviera! The perfect honeymoon after a week in Paris (and a year in the house!).
