Wish you could elope to Paris but want to bring your loved ones? Have you considered a destination micro-wedding?

As an english-speaking makeup artist in Paris, France, I beautify brides from all over the world for their destination elopements and weddings.

Last year I had the pleasure of providing Linda and her two best friends with beauty services for her micro-wedding in Paris. Linda and her fiancé, Gary, wanted to elope in Paris with their close ones, so they organized a micro-wedding, Europe trip with two other couples.

This wasn’t an ordinary destination wedding trip - it was a multi-wedding and group honeymoon trip: one couple was got married just a few days prior in Europe, followed by Linda and Gary’s wedding in France. They then continued their travels for a double honeymoon - talk about quality time with your friends! Continue reading to see how Linda and Gary’s Paris rooftop destination wedding came to life!

Getting Ready

Linda booked a posh Parisian Airbnb for her wedding day preparations!

Linda found me via her photographer and reached out to me for her October 2019 wedding! Once we connected, we began designing the perfect bridal hair and makeup look. While Linda was open to my creativity, her bridal look was to be polished, chic and timeless. It had to harmonize with the grandiose interiors of the Shangri-La, the classic Parisian views, and with her full, long-sleeve princess gown. Plus, her hair had to withstand the inevitable breeze of a rooftop wedding!

The couple booked the best Airbnb for the bridal preparations and first look: a gorgeous apartment on the iconic Avenue de la Bourdonnais in the 7th arrondissement. That morning when I arrived, the rooms were rich in sunlight and the fragrance of intricate floral arrangements, staged by Akiko of Floraison Paris, wafted in the breeze from the balcony. Linda and her bridesmaids were in the living room, giggling and enjoying Parisian pastries while I set up my work area.

The Bridal Look

Linda’s hair was healthy, long, thick, and dark with some subtle highlights. Her wedding dress was a ballroom gown with a sweetheart neckline, satin finish floral appliqués on the bodice and sleeves, and a pearl button back. The skirt was full yet airy and had floral chiffon overlay - this dress was fit for a princess!

For the hair, we chose a full bridal updo. Full updo’s are ideal for long heavy hair in windy weather and outdoor ceremonies. I parted her hair on the side and swept it back into a low bun which composed of intricately pinned curls. We finished the look with a large, white crystal floral hair comb, which contrasted beautifully with her dark locks and paired perfectly with the appliqué details on her gown!

For the bridal makeup, we brightened her complexion with light contouring and strategic highlighting. I applied blush in soft layers of rose and coral to bring out her golden complexion. Her lip color was a satin, warm rose shade. For the eyes, I designed a tear-proof, elegant semi-smokey look, finished with long faux lashes to add depth and emphasize her eyes.

Her two best friends’ makeup looks were lighter versions of Linda’s bridal look, with similar lip and eye tones. Their hairstyles were a bit more loose and romantic than Linda’s, to complement their matching, flowing pink dresses.

Bridal Portraits & First Look

By the early afternoon, the hairstyles and makeup for Linda and her bridesmaids were complete. It was time for the bridal portraits and putting on the dress!

The wedding photographer, Audrey of Le Secret d’Audrey, captured the sweet moment of Linda’s friends helping her get into her dress before leading her into the next room and out on the balcony to take bridal portraits.

Audrey was the perfect wedding photographer for Linda - her fashion-house style matched the aesthetic for Linda’s posh Parisian rooftop ceremony. Linda chose Audrey specifically for her style - she’d been following Audrey for a long time before choosing her wedding date!

THE FIRST LOOK

Finally, it was time for Linda and Gary to have their first look - her friends and I snuck over for a peek! We saw a touching moment between an anxious Gary and his giggling bride-to-be. Linda could not stop laughing during the first look, she was so excited and couldn’t believe it was finally happening!

Wedding Ceremony

The Paris wedding ceremony took place on the rooftop terrace at the Shangri-La, with an iconic Eiffel Tower view!

Before heading over to the ceremony, I touched up everyone’s hair and makeup. They met with the groomsmen and made their way to the Shangri-La Hotel. Their officiant, Aude of Celebrant in Paris greeted them and began their rooftop terrace wedding ceremony, right in front of the Eiffel Tower. The weather was a dream - sunny skies and a warm breeze, perfection!

Once the couple said “I do,” everyone enjoyed Vanilla Almond Rose & Raspberry cake & champagne!

Afterwards, Linda and Gary started their Paris wedding photo shoot portraits, while their friends enjoyed the view of the Eiffel tower, and proceeded on to the private dining room for cocktails.

The Paris Wedding Photoshoot

Linda and Gary began their wedding photoshoot at the hotel and then continued around Paris’s most classic locations.

Because they got married at the Shangri-La Hotel, they could have wedding photos taken at the three biggest hot spots for Paris photoshoots; the Palais Royal, Louvre Museum, and Alexander III Bridge.
