WITH STUNNING SCENERY OF LAVENDER FIELDS AND PICTURESQUE VILLAGES, IT'S NO SURPRISE THAT MANY COUPLES DREAM OF TYING THE KNOT IN THIS SERENE REGION OF FRANCE.
As a bridal makeup and hair artist in France, I have the honor of beautifying many brides from the United States and beyond for their Provence destination weddings. In 2022, my team and I traveled to Provence to provide hair styling and makeup for Maxine and her 10 bridesmaids for her French destination wedding at Château de Tourreau.
Maxine (bride) and Doug (groom) live in California and have always dreamed of a destination wedding. And in true California-fashion, they LOVE festivals and wanted to bring festival elements into their big day. So, they merged the two ideas, and came up with something a little different…a Burning Man-themed wedding in the South of France!

Château de Tourreau Wedding
MAXINE AND DOUG ENJOY TRAVELING AND HAD A LARGE GUEST LIST AND WEDDING PARTY. THEIR EVENT PLANNER, LISA FROM WANDERLUST WEDDINGS, FOUND THEM THE PERFECT VENUE, CHÂTEAU DE TOURREAU. THIS CHÂTEAU WAS ABLE TO ACCOMMODATE THEIR LARGE WEDDING PARTY AND FAMILY AND WAS THE PERFECT BACKDROP FOR THEIR BURNING MAN THEMED WEDDING.
Maxine and Doug privatized their venue for the weekend. This gave them the opportunity to enjoy the pool and host an alfresco rehearsal dinner on site. One special touch was the onsite orchard and vegetable garden—something very important to Maxine…who has her own cooking blog and over 95k followers on Instagram!
MAXINE’s Rehearsal Dinner Look
For Maxine’s rehearsal dinner look, we styled her hair into a sleek ponytail with brushed out curls to pair with her chic bridal white suit. If you’re having a professional photographer documenting your rehearsal dinner, I highly recommend having your hair and makeup done—it will make all the difference, PLUS, a little “pre-wedding pampering” is never a bad idea!

Getting Ready

At 10:00 AM on the wedding day, our beauty team set up a workspace in each corner of the room to keep the flow of traffic in the getting-ready space.
Once we set up, we got everyone ready within a few hours, leaving lipstick applications to the very end, so that everyone looked fresh in the preparation photos to follow. The ladies wore matching slip nightgowns and took pictures in the luminous hall, and then they changed into their bridesmaid dresses and waited for their first look with their bride and friend, Maxine.

The Bridal Look
Maxine is Asian-Caucasian and has medium-deep skin tone with almond shaped green eyes and long dark shiny locks. Her wedding dress was a high neck, ostrich feather gown with a high leg slit—the perfect wedding dress for a Burning Man-themed wedding in Provence!
For her bridal hairstyle, she wanted to look as natural as possible, so I created brushed soft waves and tucked one side behind the ear so she wouldn’t have her hair completely down. This look is perfect for brides who want to wear an accessory on the side, above the ear, or simply wish to not have both sides of their hair loose around the face.
For the bridal makeup, we showcased her luminous, bronze complexion with strategic placement of highlighter and blush. To accentuate her green almond eyes, we went with a soft bridal smokey eye. For lips, we chose a glossy finish, peachy-nude shade to complete this summery, sun-kissed bridal look.

The First Look
ONCE MAXINE REVEALED HER BRIDAL LOOK TO HER BRIDAL PARTY [THEY ALL SCREAMED!], IT WAS TIME FOR THE COUPLE’S FIRST LOOK BY THE STAIRCASE.
Doug waited for Maxine at the bottom of the main staircase, and Maxine walked down excitedly to meet him. Doug was speechless as they kissed and embraced each other. This beautiful moment was captured discreetly by Kurt of Kurt Boomer Photography.

The Wedding Ceremony
AFTER THE BRIDESMAIDS AND GROOMSMEN MADE THEIR WAY TO THE OUTDOOR CEREMONY SPOT, MAXINE ENTERED WITH HER DAD, WHO WALKED HER DOWN THE AISLE.

The Couple’s Portraits

While guests made their way to the cocktail hour, filled with servers wearing wild theatrical costumes and wild performers, courtesy of Nuart Events, Doug and Maxine took wedding portraits around the Château grounds. I was on standby for makeup and hair touchups for several hours, to ensure her makeup looked fresh and hair withstood the slight humidity in the air.

THE COUPLE PARTIED THE NIGHT AWAY ALONGSIDE THEIR FRIENDS AND FAMILY. THERE WAS DANCING, MORE PERFORMANCES, AND COZY LOUNGE AREAS...FEATURING TEE-PEE STRUCTURES AND COMFY COUCHES. THE GUESTS AND NEWLYWEDS SURELY HAD AN AMAZING, MEMORABLE TIME IN THE HEART OF FRANCE!
