For some careers, makeup is almost mandatory (and it needs to last!)

It’s no secret that looking great at work will boost self-confidence on the job – but not all women have time to figure it out on their own.

Instead, some choose to save time, money (and havoc on their skin!) by investing in a personalized, 1-on-1 Makeup Lesson with a professional makeup artist and image consultant. In this blog post, I’m going to talk about my client Imen, and her 1-on-1 Paris Makeup lesson, during which she learned how to apply her wedding planner makeup look.

Read on to see how her private makeup lesson in Paris was customized to her unique demands as a professional wedding planner.

IMEN IS A PARIS WEDDING PLANNER WHO HAS WORKED IN THE PARIS WEDDING PLANNING INDUSTRY FOR several YEARS.

While working on a Paris bridal photoshoot together, she learned about my Paris Makeup Lessons and later reached out to schedule one.

Imen needed to learn a quick, versatile makeup look for her job as a wedding planner. As a bridal makeup artist myself, I knew these demands all too well and knew exactly what products to show her in order to achieve a professional and wearable makeup look. Plus, since we’re in Paris, where just about every major beauty brand has its own boutique, I’ve tested hundreds of products and brands, so I know EXACTLY what works and how to make the best choices for every skin type and complexion.

TIP: If need to learn how to master your makeup for work, check out my Online Makeup Lessons, during which we’ll discuss your unique makeup needs and work environment, and go over the best products to achieve the right look for you!

Imen’s Makeup Lesson Plan

At the beginning of her 1-on-1 makeup lesson, I sat down with Imen to determine what her makeup goals were, reviewed her skincare routine and current beauty collection. After about 30 minutes, we determined her skin type and desired look, and came up with clear goals for our time together.

Imen’s Beauty Goals for her 1-on-1 Paris Makeup Workshop

  • Conceal dark circles without caking or creasing

  • Define eyes in as few steps as possible and add a pop of lip color—a look that would go with any type of wedding

  • Apply a full face of makeup that could look professional, withstand a full workday, and still appear fresh and luminous.

  • Correct mistakes + properly touch-up when necessary without ruining the rest of her makeup.

Step 1: Face makeup for an even complexion

Imen needed multi-purpose products to get her out the door on early mornings.

For her normal-to-dry skin, we used the NARS Pure Radiance Tinted Moisturizer. This product is perfect for those days where you need to get out the door—quick!

Once her tinted moisturizer settled in, we used Face Atelier Foundation to cover uneven areas that needed a bit of brightening. Face Atelier is a product I wish more people outside of the beauty industry knew about—its clean ingredients and super pigmented formula allows for great coverage, even when applied sparingly! Every Paris makeup lesson client of mine gets to try out this brand and see its magic for themselves!

Then it was time for under-eye makeup, with NARS Radiant creamy concealer. Less is more when it comes to wearable makeup and this is especially true with the under-eye area.

One reason Imen had so many issues before is because she was only covering her under-eye circles and not applying makeup anywhere else. I taught her how to apply concealer strategically, and the proper way to blend it, so that the delicate skin around her eyes didn’t look cakey. Whether you’re learning makeup through an online lesson, or an in-person makeup lesson in Paris, this is something I make sure each and everyone one of my clients learn!

TIP: Sponges are a great tool for beginners, but they need to be washed regularly or replaced each time, and if you don’t have time to wash your sponge, then clean fingertips are the next best makeup tool.

Step 2: Blush, Highlighter, and Bronzer

Next, I taught Imen how to apply powder blush, highlighter, and bronzer in the right areas for her face shape.

We used a powder blush from LimeLife by Alcone which coordinated with her pink MAC lipstick, followed by bronzer and finally, highlighter from Charlotte Tilbury’s Bar of Gold Palette.

Powder blush, highlighter and bronzer products help to absorb natural oils and shine—especially if your work requires lots of physical activity, and you find yourself constantly on your feet.

TIP: If you’re over the age of 20, smiling and applying blush to the apples of your cheek will no longer give you the results you are looking for and this is not a technique I recommend using when applying your blush. This is true for bronzer, contour, and highlighter as well.

Step 3: Eye Makeup + Brows

For her Paris makeup lesson, IMEN wanted to learn how to apply a SOFT but well-Defined, natural Eye makeup.

I taught her how to apply a 2-color eyeshadow look using matte shades from Viseart Paris and Cozzette. I applied makeup to one side of Imen’s face, one step at a time, so she could visualize and feel how and where to place each shade.

Then it was time for her eyebrows. I showed her how to use an eyebrow pencil from ESUM Cosmetics to fill sparse areas naturally. Then we applied eyebrow gel to keep them in place. Everyone’s brows are unique, and so I always customize this step for my 1-on-1 makeup lessons in Paris, as well as my online makeup lessons!

TIP: To clean up the edges of eyeliner and eyeshadow, first remove excess product with a cotton bud, then pat on some concealer using fingertips or a brush for more precision.

Step 4: Finishing Touches + Lips!

Finally, it was time for the finishing touches—lipstick!

Using a lip pencil in a shade darker than her lips, I taught Imen how to achieve a crisp, bold lip line that showcased her full lip shape.

This created the perfect base for her pink MAC lip color, a color she wanted to incorporate into her Paris personalized makeup lesson!

We set her face with Skindinavia Setting Spray, for extra long-lasting wear for her makeup. This gave her skin an extra touch of glow—something I love about Skindinavia’s setting sprays!

TIP: To clean up edges of your lipstick, remove excess product with a cotton bud or flat concealer brush.

The Final Look

AT THE END OF HER PARIS 1-on-1 MAKEUP LESSON, WE TOOK TONS OF SELFIES AND WENT OVER HER CLASS NOTES TO MAKE SURE NO INFORMATION WAS MISSING…followed by more SELFIES!
